The fifth chakra is situated at the base of the neck in the throat. This chakra is represented by the blue Vishuddha mandala (purity), the element of ether and symbolised by the human race.
The throat chakra influences dreaming, communication, artistic expression, self-belief, good judgment, wisdom, out of body experiences, clairaudience and truthfulness.
The chakra physically influences the thyroid gland, throat, teeth, mouth and the immune system.
If the throat chakra is in balance, it allows us to express our truth, which in turn helps us to feel happy and centred. You can also use the throat chakra while you are meditating to connect with your higher guidance (self).
Too little flow influences the physical in the forms of communication problems, sore throats, earaches or infections, thyroid problems, chronic colds, speech difficulties, depression and chronic tiredness, which can also lead to the control of others through dishonesty and deceit. If the flow is too great it can make you dominating, inflexible, egotistical, have a self-righteous and a big-headed attitude.
A blocked throat chakra can cause you to be nervous and scared causing introspection, where you tend to keep your thoughts to yourself and opposing any sort of change. Balance this chakra by singing, listening to good music, chanting, looking at the sky, going for walks, watching your breath and daily meditations outside.
