As Mercury races ahead in the zodiac now, leaving his triple alliance with Sun and Saturn in his wake, he makes a very inspiring trine aspect or 120 degree alignment with Uranus across the zodiac in the other complimentary fire sign. The influence should already be felt as it builds up to an exact alignment on 1 December and we shall call that the “Day of Genius”. Mercury symbolically rules the workings of the mind in astrological terms, and Uranus, although only relatively recently discovered by astronomers, is considered to represent a higher octave of Mercury. So as the two make an auspicious alignment like this, in harmoniously compatible signs of the zodiac, we should expect the couple of days now to be filled with inspired new ideas that appear as if from nowhere, like a bolt from the blue.
This is how we commonly describe intuition, or insight. Of course “insight” may come from deep thought, worldly experience or long deliberation, so it may not be exactly the term to describe this aspect, but “inspired intuition” may be more accurate. It can be like waking up one morning with the brightest of ideas, the answer to the problem, or the symptoms of spontaneous and outside-the -box perception, may I dare say even extra-sensory perception. These symptoms may all be available to the receptive mind at this time, so trust your intuition now. ESP is only a rare commodity because we have not been trained to use our God-given skill. Our modern life and education may not facilitate the mindset required to hear the inner voice that is there all the time. We are simply not taught to cultivate the stillness of mind required, the receptive inner ear, to receive the guidance from within. Cultivating a stilled mind takes practice, usually years of practice, as taught by all schools of meditation. A calm or stilled mind is the goal of meditation after all, for it is the open door through which one can enter the temple of the heart to have audience with the higher self that resides permanently within. And also an over-active or agitated mind is the cause of anxiety, distress and bewilderment in life. During meditation one may sometimes be suddenly alerted by the intuitive voice to many bright ideas or solutions. Yet that is just a by-product or secondary benefit to the art of meditation, which is actually primarily meant to still the mind enough to enable us to see the real self. Nevertheless, those inspired insights are not to be sniffed at. Especially if there are daily duties in life that require problem solving. Now besides these moments of meditation, that inspirational problem solver is there all the time and it is at times like this current astrological alignment that may bring him to the fore.
You are not alone in your head. Whether you see it as the two hemispheres of the brain, or the presence of the soul and Supersoul – also known as the guru in the heart – there is a possibility for dialogue, and the inner advisor definitely has the greater understanding or perspective of the picture we call life. The simple rational everyday mind that we identify as ourself is only part of the personality at hand. We all house the software within to access the mainframe, tap into the cloud, or hear from source, whether directly if we are one of the rare few, or indirectly by accessing the “akashic records” in the reference section of the eternal library. Now is the time to lend an ear, become receptive and allow your inner guide to whisper in your ear those words you need to hear, for the future is already out there, and it is up to you whether or not you are able to be a step ahead of the pack in seeing it or should I say hearing it and acting upon it for your own upliftment as well as the upliftment of your sphere of influence.
